Redomiciling

The process by which an insurer changes its legal state or country of incorporation, known as its domicile. A company undertakes this move to operate under a different regulatory framework, access new markets, or gain a more favorable capital or tax environment. The insurer must receive approval from both the old and new jurisdictions and is thereafter subject to the laws of its new domicile.
