Trojan horse

A type of malicious software disguised as legitimate software, which, once installed, creates a backdoor for unauthorized access to a computer system. Unlike viruses, Trojans do not self-replicate but rely on social engineering to trick users into executing them. Their presence can lead to data theft, system damage, or the installation of additional malware, posing a substantial cyber risk.
