Unladen liability

Term · Insurance and risk management · MLC-T-INS-003437

Liability coverage for a truck, such as an owner-operator's tractor, while it runs without a load and not under dispatch for the motor carrier, for example when bobtailing or pulling an empty trailer. A motor carrier can require the owner-operator to carry it, since the carrier's own policy covers the truck only while hauling for the carrier. It is closely related to bobtail and non-trucking liability coverage.
