An irresistible natural force or act of God that is beyond human control and cannot be prevented by reasonable foresight or care. This concept is often invoked in contract law and insurance to excuse performance or liability when such an event causes damage or prevents fulfillment. Examples include earthquakes, floods, or severe storms.
