An instrument or device designed to cause widespread death, serious injury, or property damage through chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, or explosive means. Insurance policies typically exclude coverage for losses directly or indirectly caused by the use of such weapons due to the catastrophic and unquantifiable nature of the potential damage. This exclusion protects insurers from insolvency arising from events of extreme scale.
