Ab intestato

The condition of an estate left by a person who has died without a valid will. When a person dies ab intestato, their property does not pass according to their wishes but is instead distributed based on statutory rules of succession. These laws of intestacy specify a fixed hierarchy of relatives, such as a spouse, children, and parents, who are entitled to inherit the assets.
