Appellate jurisdiction

The power of a higher court to review and revise the decisions of a lower court or administrative agency. This jurisdiction is limited to examining questions of law and procedure, not typically re-evaluating facts or hearing new evidence. Most cases reach the U.S. Supreme Court through its appellate jurisdiction.
