Community interest development

A form of real estate development where individual units are privately owned, but certain common areas and facilities are owned and maintained collectively by an association of owners. These developments are governed by a homeowners' association (HOA) and a set of covenants, conditions, and restrictions (CC&Rs). Condominiums and planned unit developments are examples of community interest developments.
