Help America Vote Act of 2002

A federal law enacted to improve election administration in the United States following issues in the 2000 presidential election. It established minimum election administration standards for states and provided funding to help states meet these requirements. The Act mandated provisional ballots, statewide voter registration databases, and accessible voting equipment for disabled voters.
