Holding cell

A temporary detention room within a courthouse, police station, or other law enforcement facility where individuals are held for short periods, typically before or after court appearances, questioning, or transfer to a more permanent correctional facility. These cells are designed for secure, short-term confinement. They are not intended for long-term incarceration.
