Incumber

To burden or charge property with a claim, lien, or liability, thereby restricting its free transfer or use. This legal action places an obligation on the property, such as a mortgage or an easement, which must be satisfied before the property can be fully conveyed. An incumbrance reduces the value or marketability of the asset.
