Irreconcilable differences

A ground for divorce in a no-fault divorce system, indicating that the marriage has broken down to the extent that there is no reasonable prospect of reconciliation. This legal standard avoids the need for one spouse to prove fault on the part of the other. Many states have adopted this as the sole ground for divorce.
