Judge Advocate General Corps

The branch of a U.S. military service made up of its legal officers, known as judge advocates, who advise commanders, prosecute and defend courts-martial and handle military justice, operational law and international law. The Army, Navy and Air Force each maintain one. Marine Corps judge advocates are organized in the Marine Corps' own Judge Advocate Division.
