The Judge Advocate General, the senior legal officer of a military service, or the Judge Advocate General's Corps, the body of military lawyers serving under that officer. The Army, Navy and Air Force each have such a corps, and their lawyers prosecute and defend courts-martial, advise commanders and handle operational and international law. Marine Corps judge advocates are organized in the Marine Corps' own Judge Advocate Division.
