Marriage certificate

An official document issued by a government authority that legally confirms two people are married. It is created after a valid marriage license has been obtained and the ceremony has been performed and witnessed. The certificate includes the names of the couple, the date and location of the marriage, and the signatures of the officiant and witnesses.
