Certificate of Citizenship

An official document issued by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) that serves as proof of U.S. citizenship for individuals who acquired citizenship through their parents or were born outside the U.S. to U.S. citizen parents. This certificate is distinct from a Certificate of Naturalization, which is issued to those who become citizens through the naturalization process.
