Noncontest clause

A provision in a will or trust that states if a beneficiary challenges the validity of the document, they will forfeit their inheritance or receive a reduced share. Also known as an in terrorem clause, it aims to discourage litigation over the estate. The enforceability of such clauses varies by jurisdiction and is often subject to exceptions, such as challenges made in good faith.
