Noncontestability clause

A provision in an insurance policy, particularly life insurance, that prevents the insurer from denying a claim based on misrepresentations in the application after a specified period, usually one or two years. This clause protects policyholders from having their coverage revoked due to minor errors or omissions discovered long after the policy was issued. It does not apply to fraud or misstatements regarding age or gender.
