Suicide clause

A provision in a life insurance policy that limits or excludes coverage if the insured dies by suicide within a certain period after the policy's effective date. This clause is designed to prevent individuals from purchasing life insurance with the intent of committing suicide shortly thereafter. The exclusion period is commonly one or two years from the policy's issue date.
