Suicide

The act of intentionally taking one's own life. While suicide itself is not a crime in modern legal systems, assisting or encouraging another person to commit suicide is a criminal offense in many jurisdictions, prosecuted as manslaughter or a specific statutory crime. Historically under English common law, suicide was a felony that resulted in the forfeiture of the deceased's property to the Crown.
