Inquest

A judicial inquiry, typically conducted by a coroner or medical examiner, to ascertain the cause of a death, especially when it is sudden, violent, or unexplained. The purpose is to gather facts and determine the manner of death, such as accident, suicide, homicide, or natural causes. An inquest does not determine criminal guilt but provides findings for public record.
