Coroner

A public official whose primary duty is to investigate deaths that are sudden, unexpected, violent, or suspicious, or that occur without medical attendance. The coroner determines the cause and manner of death, sometimes with the assistance of a medical examiner. This role often involves ordering autopsies and holding inquests.
