Manslaughter

The unlawful killing of a human being without malice aforethought. It is generally categorized into voluntary manslaughter, committed in the heat of passion or during a sudden quarrel, and involuntary manslaughter, resulting from criminal negligence or during the commission of an unlawful act not amounting to a felony. Manslaughter carries a lesser penalty than murder.
