Felony murder doctrine

A legal rule that allows a person to be charged with murder if another person dies during the commission of certain dangerous felonies, even if the defendant did not intend to kill. The intent to commit the underlying felony is imputed as the malice aforethought required for murder. This doctrine varies in application and scope among jurisdictions.
