Transferred intent

A legal doctrine where the intent to harm one person is transferred to the actual victim, even if the perpetrator did not specifically intend to harm that individual. This principle applies when a defendant intends to commit a tort or crime against one party but accidentally harms another. It is often invoked in cases of assault, battery, and homicide.
