False imprisonment

The unlawful restraint of a person's physical liberty without proper legal authority or consent. This tort requires an intent to confine, actual confinement, and the victim's awareness of the confinement or harm from it. It can occur even without physical barriers, such as through threats or assertions of legal authority.
