False light

A tort involving the public disclosure of facts that place a person in a false or misleading light in the public eye. This occurs when the published material, though not necessarily defamatory, creates an untrue impression about the individual. The plaintiff must prove that the defendant acted with actual malice or reckless disregard for the truth.
