Reckless disregard

A standard of conduct indicating a conscious indifference to the consequences of one's actions, particularly concerning the rights or safety of others. This level of culpability is often required for certain torts, such as defamation against public figures, where actual malice must be proven. It signifies a greater fault than ordinary negligence but falls short of intentional harm.
