Egregious

Describing conduct that is outstandingly bad, shocking, or flagrant in its deviation from accepted norms or legal standards. In tort law, such behavior can be a basis for awarding punitive damages, which are intended to punish the wrongdoer and deter similar future conduct. For a finding of egregious conduct, the action must be more than simple negligence; it must demonstrate a conscious or reckless disregard for the rights and safety of others.
