Reckless driving

The criminal offense of operating a motor vehicle with a conscious and unjustifiable disregard for the safety of other people or property. This charge requires a higher degree of culpability than mere carelessness or ordinary negligence, involving a mental state where the driver is aware of but ignores a substantial risk. Penalties are more severe than for a standard traffic infraction and can include fines, license suspension, and imprisonment.
