False Claims Act

A federal statute that imposes liability on individuals and companies who defraud governmental programs. It allows the United States government to recover funds lost to fraud committed against it. This act includes a qui tam provision, which permits private citizens to file lawsuits on behalf of the government and share in any recovered funds.
