Relator

A party who brings a legal action on behalf of the government or a public interest, particularly in cases where the government itself is the nominal plaintiff. This individual typically has a personal interest in the outcome but acts to enforce a public right or statute. Qui tam actions, where a private citizen sues on behalf of the government for fraud, are a common example.
