Plaintiff

  1. The party who initiates a lawsuit by filing a complaint with a court, seeking a legal remedy for an alleged wrong. This individual or entity brings the action against another party, known as the defendant. The plaintiff bears the burden of proof to establish their claims.

  2. A person or entity that files a civil lawsuit.
