Plaintiff

The party who initiates a lawsuit by filing a complaint with a court, seeking a legal remedy for an alleged wrong. In insurance, the plaintiff is often the insured or a third party who has suffered a loss and is seeking compensation from an insurer or an insured party. The plaintiff bears the burden of proving their case against the defendant.
