Cross-defendant

A party in a lawsuit against whom a cross-complaint has been filed by another party, such as the original defendant or a co-defendant. This individual or entity is required to respond to the claims made in the cross-complaint. The cross-defendant may be the original plaintiff or another defendant in the case.
