Implead

To bring a new party into an existing lawsuit, typically by a defendant who believes the new party is responsible for some or all of the plaintiff's claims. This action, known as a third-party complaint, seeks to transfer liability or obtain contribution from the added party. Federal Rule of Civil Procedure 14 governs the process for impleading third-party defendants in U.S. federal courts.
