Impairment

A loss or reduction in function of a body part or system, or a decrease in the value or quality of an asset. In insurance, it can refer to a physical or mental condition affecting an individual's ability to work, or a reduction in the economic value of property. Workers' compensation and disability insurance often assess the degree of impairment.
