Specific intent

A mental state required for certain criminal offenses, where the perpetrator not only intends to commit the act but also intends to achieve a particular result or knows that a particular result will occur. This goes beyond merely intending the physical act itself. Crimes like burglary or assault with intent to kill require specific intent, distinguishing them from general intent crimes.
