Intoxication

A state of impaired mental or physical faculties caused by the consumption of alcohol, drugs, or other substances. In criminal law, intoxication can sometimes be a defense, particularly if it negates the specific intent required for a crime. However, voluntary intoxication is generally not a defense to general intent crimes.
