Vehicular manslaughter

The unlawful killing of another person caused by the negligent or reckless operation of a motor vehicle, often involving intoxication. In some states this is the statutory name for the offense, while others call it vehicular homicide, and where both exist the grade of the crime turns on the degree of fault and any intoxication. Penalties vary by state and rise with factors such as prior convictions.
