General intent

The intent to perform the physical act that constitutes a crime, without necessarily intending the specific result or harm that occurs. This contrasts with specific intent, which requires a desire to achieve a particular outcome. For example, battery is a general intent crime, requiring only the intent to make physical contact, not to cause injury.
