To have physical custody or control over an object, or to have the power and intent to control it, even if not physically holding it. This concept can involve actual possession, where one has direct physical control, or constructive possession, where one has the ability and intent to control an item without immediate physical contact. Legal possession often requires both physical control and the intent to exercise that control.
