General intangible

A category of personal property under the Uniform Commercial Code (UCC) that lacks physical form and is not classified as accounts, chattel paper, commercial tort claims, deposit accounts, documents, goods, instruments, investment property, letter-of-credit rights, or money. Examples include intellectual property rights, goodwill, and contractual rights. Security interests in general intangibles are perfected by filing a financing statement.
