Account debtor

A person or entity obligated to pay money on an account, chattel paper, or general intangible. This obligation arises from the sale of goods, services rendered, or other transactions that create a monetary claim. The Uniform Commercial Code (UCC) Article 9 defines the rights and duties of an account debtor when the account has been assigned.
