A visual representation of an invention that forms part of a patent application, illustrating its components, assembly, and operation. These technical illustrations must conform to strict rules set by the patent office regarding format, labeling, and perspective views like plan, elevation, and sectional views. While not required for chemical compounds or processes, drawings are mandated for nearly all mechanical and electrical inventions under 35 U.S.C. § 113.
