Postdated check

A check written by the drawer with a future date, indicating that it should not be cashed until that specified date. The bank is not obligated to honor the postdate and can cash the check immediately unless notified by the customer. Issuing such a check does not negate the drawer's liability for insufficient funds if presented before the date.
