Rules Enabling Act of 1934

A federal statute that granted the U.S. Supreme Court the authority to prescribe general rules of practice and procedure for the federal courts. This act delegated rule-making power to the judiciary, subject to congressional review. It led to the creation of the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure, which govern civil litigation in federal district courts.
