Taxing power

The inherent authority of a government to levy and collect taxes from individuals and entities within its jurisdiction to fund public services and operations. This power is a fundamental attribute of sovereignty, enabling governments to raise revenue for defense, infrastructure, and social programs. In the United States, this authority is granted to Congress by Article I, Section 8 of the Constitution.
