Special prosecutor

An attorney appointed to investigate and prosecute a particular case or matter, especially when there is a perceived conflict of interest for the regular prosecuting authority. This individual operates independently of the usual chain of command to maintain impartiality and public trust. Such appointments are often made in cases involving high-ranking government officials or sensitive political matters.
