The person or entity who sells property, especially real estate, through a contract of sale. The vendor agrees to transfer ownership of the property to the vendee (the buyer) upon the satisfaction of specified conditions, such as the full payment of the purchase price. Until the sale is complete and legal title is transferred, the vendor retains legal title to the property as security for the vendee's payment obligations under the agreement.
